HAVE A RIOT WITH THE HITMEN AT THEIR 30TH BIRTHDAY GIG Australian rock and roll's most enduring and indestructible guitar gang the Hitmen are celebrating their third decade with a party in their hometown Sydney on May 21 The 30th Birthday Riot finds the Rock and Roll Soldiers going back to their inner-city roots for a one-night stand at Newtown's Sandringham Hotel. The Hitmen will play two big sets and screening vintage footage that back-tracks their long and varied back catalogue. Special guest support will be Dead Rabids, the band for ex-Filth guitarist and one of Sydney's original punks, Bob Short. This will be the last Hitmen public appearance for the foreseeable future with the band taking a well-deserved spell after a blistering East Coast tour in April. The Hitmen are one of the country's most storied and colourful acts. Arising from the ashes of Radio Birdman and revolving around singer Johnny Kannis and guitarist Chris Klondike Masuak, they've been home to, or played with, a string of greats. Ex-member Brad Shepherd (Hoodoo Gurus) joined them onstage for the final gig while other dates featured appearances by Ron Peno (Died Pretty) and Mick Medew (Screaming Tribesmen.) Expect more of the unexpected at the Sando. The recent shows had seasoned fans saying the Hitmen had never played better so the band will be taking the plunge and recording at the Sando. Rather than let the audio languish on the shelf, fans pre-booking through moshtix.com.au will receive a free copy of a limited edition, live-on-the-night album for pick-up at the gig. |
